Tribal Clay Fiber
"Tribal Clay Fiber" is a fiber art piece that is created on a stretched canvas for ease in hanging and greater stability of the design.
This measures approximately 30" x 10", with an additional 10" of fiber drop past the canvas structure of 30" x 10". No frame required, but could be added if desired. The fibers do wrap onto the sides of the canvas.
The coloration is browns, naturals, and rusts. I added a number of my handmade clay (fired and glazed) buttons, plus 6 wood rounds and an a flat. I also added a relief in clay with a subtle tribal design imprint.
I wove rope out of my fibers and included that in the design. This is the same size and technique as "natural".
Enjoy the difference, Nancy
Check out my artspan blog to see my works in progress. I will try to keep up with my artspan blog. Questions and comments are always welcome.
I am very prolific, or to use another term "ants in my pants". I love creating, love using my mind and my hands, love sharing techniques and process. When not in the studio, I travel with what I can to create. I keep in mind good craftsmanship and quality materials. Composition is so important, and knowing your materials is just one piece to the fabulous process of creating.
